ACCRA INDIE FILMFEST PARTNERS WITH CLERMONT-FERRAND INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL IN FRANCE
Accra Indie Filmfest partners again with Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival for a special “African Suite 2020” screening presentation at the 5th edition of the festival slated for 31st July to 5th August 2023 at the Alliance Francaise, Accra.
This partnership will amplify their African Suite 2020 Program selection as part of this year’s edition of the festival by screening six short films out of that competition, including Microbus by Maggie Kamal (Egypt, USA), On the Surface by Fan Sissoko (Iceland, Mali), Bergie directed by Dian Weys (South Africa), Will My Parents Come To See Me by Mo Harawe (Austria, Germany, Somalia), Tsutsue by Amartei Armar (France, Ghana) and Astel by Ramata Toulaye Sy (France, Sénégal). Institut Francaise facilitates this partnership to help create a long-lasting relationship between Ghana and French, and the growth sustainability of the African cinema.
This year’s festival is themed “Film: Connecting People, Connecting Cultures” and features 52 short films representing 28 countries with a strong focus on African cinema. The selection encompasses various genres such as animation, narrative films, music videos, student films, documentaries, and digital storytelling. The festival provides a platform for both established and emerging filmmakers, celebrating the art of filmmaking and offering a global perspective.
The much-anticipated short film festival solidified its relevance as one of the biggest film festivals in the world with its maiden edition in 2019, the sophomore edition, Virtual Access Edition in 2020 and a hybrid edition in 2021 and 2022. AiF has gradually registered itself as one of the highly competitive and innovative international film festivals on the African continent.
