AiF FilmArts '22 Exchange, Create and Make Magic

We return again with another edition of AiF FilmArt as part of this year’s edition of Accra Indie Filmfest. This is done in collaboration with Mediathirsty Productions based in the UK. AiF FilmArt 2022 is a film incubation program supported by the British Council SSA Art Cultural Exchange, for those already in the business of filmmaking who need supported opportunities to develop their craft.

Pens up, Action! SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP (UK)

The screenwriting workshop in the UK is organized by Mediathirsty Productions to give underrepresented emerging screenwriters in the UK the opportunity to collaborate with young filmmaking teams in Ghana. The screenwriting application has already been closed and a workshop has already been held. Final two (2) screenplays are expected to be selected after it has gone through some refining phases to be produced by the filmmaking teams in Ghana.

Filmmaking Workshop (Ghana) Script to Screen, The Magic Together

The Filmmaking workshop is organized by Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) and open to young and emerging filmmakers residing in Ghana and occupying production roles including; directing, producing, editing, cinematography and sound design. This program is designed to foster cultural and experiential exchanges between Ghana and the UK and to birth new narratives.
The Filmmaking Workshop will conclude with the production of two short films with screenplays created by the final two selected Screenwriting Workshop participants in the UK. This opportunity will give 10 young filmmakers the opportunity to be a part of this program.

Filmmaking Workshop FAQ’s

You need to be a filmmaker with not less than 1 year working experience in film/TV. You must be 20 years and above.

It is not only for directors. It is open to cinematographers, editors, producers and boom operators as well.

No, screenwriters cannot apply unless you can also assume the role as a director, cinematographer, a producer, editor or a boom operator.

No, you do not need to be a Ghanaian to apply but you must be residing in Ghana and well vested in telling the Ghanaian story.

The workshop is absolutely free.

It will not be virtual but an in-person workshop

There will be two separate virtual sessions that will be held for the filmmaking teams to interact with the screenwriters.

Yes, a certificate of participation will be given at the end of the workshop.
