Biggest Indie
Filmmakers Incubator

An international short film festival in Ghana, dedicated to creating more value
for emerging filmmakers across the world with Africa in focus.

AiF FilmArts '23 Creating Magic Together

AiF FilmArt is a film incubator program for young and emerging filmmakers who are already in the business of filmmaking but need supported opportunities to develop their craft. After the first and 2nd editions, we are back with the 3rd edition.

AiF FilmArt 2023 presents East and West African cross-country co-production experience, expands the reach of co-creation conversations, and the cultural exchange between Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda.

This program will be in three folds;

  • Screenwriting workshop to be hosted by Kyooto Media in Uganda.
  • Screenwriting workshop to be hosted by Unique Motion Media Konsult in Nigeria.
  • Filmmaking workshop will be hosted by Accra indie Filmfest in Ghana.

The screenwriting workshops will allow emerging screenwriters in Uganda and Nigeria to be trained and tasked to write screenplays at the end of the workshops based on the themes of “Good Health and Well-being” and “Peace and Conflict Resolutions'' as part of the global sustainable development goals. One finalist will be selected from each country. These two finalists would have their screenplays produced by the filmmaking teams in Ghana.

The filmmaking workshop in Ghana will offer an opportunity to train ten (10) emerging filmmakers (directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, and sound designers) in Ghana with five (5) members in each group. Each group would be tasked to produce each of the screenplays selected from the screenwriting workshops in Uganda and Nigeria after the filmmaking masterclasses in Ghana.

The two films to be produced would be pre-screened at the British Council, Accra to a live audience in an awesome ceremony. Again, they would be premiered as part of the 5th edition of Accra Indie Filmfest in 2023 at the Open-Air Cinema Experience. The films would also be submitted to other international film festivals as a means of creating greater impact and visibility for the participants.
